Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance a phosphorus-removing function and to eliminate an excess back load trouble which might be caused by waste water in a plant for the biological disposal of sewage or the like, by mixing a BOD component-containing solution with return sludge.
CONSTITUTION: Phosphorus-containing organic waste water 1 such as sewage is biologically treated in an aeration vessel 3, and separated into a solid part and a liquid part in the final sedimentation pool 4. Thus, a purified water 5 is generated. A part of the separated sludge is introduced as return sludge 6 into an anaerobic vessel 8. BOD component-containing waste water 9 in the sewage-disposing plant, such as the separated liquid obtained by the dehydration of the sludge, an effluent obtained by anaerobic digestion, etc. is charged into the anaerobic vessel 8. Consequently, a phosphorus taken up by bacteria in the return sludge 6 is dissolved into the in-plant waste water 9. The sludge in this state is introduced into the aeration vessel 3 for recycle, so that phosphorus of the stock water as well as the one dissolved away in the anaerobic vessel 8 are taken up again by the bacteria. As a result, the purified water 5 does not contain phosphorus substantially.
