Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a flat, small-sized, light, and moreover improved flywheel of a magnetic bearing to bear a rotating part without any contact for the use for the attitude control of a space orbiter or the like by constructing an attraction ring on the inside of a rotating part and electromagnets on the side of a stationary part to face each other in a level to cross a rotational shaft at right angles. CONSTITUTION:A flywheel is provided with a flat cylindrical rotor 11 to be rotated by motor parts 20, 22 and closed on one end, and an attraction ring 12 of a permanent magnet or others is equipped inside the rotor 11. A plurality of electromagnets 13 are fast fixed on a stationary part 19 to face the inside of the attraction ring 12. The attraction ring 12 is provided with flat projected section parts 15 to increase magnetic flux density in a range not to saturate the magnetic flux passing through yokes 14 of electromagnets 13 in the attraction ring 12. Each electromagnet 13 is provided with a coil 16 to increase or decrease the attraction between the yoke 14 and the attraction ring 12 by increasing or decreasing the magnetic flux penetrating through the yoke 14, while the amount of electrification to the coil 16 is controlled on the basis of signals from a detector 17 to detect the horizontal displacement and others of the rotor 11.
