This information which is not discrete but continuous is detected easily and surely by magnetoresistance head 4 for servo utilizing the magnetoresistance effect, and driving device 10 is servocontrolled by the head position signal and the speed signal resulting from position detector 9 and speed detector 11, and the head is positioned easily and surely by the constitution where a complicated detector is not required, and thus, the recording density is improved.
