Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the separation of solid from liquid by using filter material almost free of clogging thereof by a method in which liquid only is permeated through a filter medium and transferred without providing specific pressure difference between both sides of the filter material.
CONSTITUTION: A solids-containing liquid is introduced through an entrance 12 into a cylindrical framework 1 and then led to a liquid inside a liquid tank 6 through a filter bag 2 provided at the lower part of the framework 1. The height of liquid overflowing over the upside 14 of the liquid tank 6 is always nearly equalized with that of the solids-containing liquid inside the framework 1, and also their pressures are kept almost equally. Liquid permeats through the filter bag 2 into the tank 6 by as much an amount as the liquid overflowing over the upside 14 of the liquid tank 6, and solid component is separated. In case the amount of solids is too great, the valve 5 of a sludge discharge pipe 4 is opened to take out the solids such as sludge, etc., present in the liquid.
