Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance sound insulating and cushioning performances by forming a gap between a plastic sheet and a sound insulator sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A sound insulator sheet 3 is made previously by vacuum molding in such a way that it shall fit the outside configuration of an insulator dash. This sound insulator sheet 3 is set in a foaming die and, a core 1 cut previously by a press in the intended form shall be set over the sheet. Under this condition, a expandable liquid plastic 4 such as expandable urethane is poured in and expansion process is carried out. The liquid plastic 4 is adhered to the insulator sheet 3 solidly through a hole 2 provided in the core 1, while a gap 5 is naturally formed between this insulator sheet 3 and the bottom of the poured plastic liquid, i.e. a plastic sheet 4a which forms the rear surface, except those parts with through holes 2. If this work is placed on the floor of a car, any vibration and noise are damped by the damping action of the gap 5. Further, the sound insulator sheet 3 will damp them to give an excellent effect.
