Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate time delay, production of noise and need for any destaticizing light source and make the apparatus simple by changing over the discharge conditions of a corona discharger for charging between the time when the image region of a photoreceptor passes and the time when the nonimage area passes. CONSTITUTION:The three-layer constitution photoreceptor provided on the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 is uniformly charged to 1,500V by a primary charger 2, thence an electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface insulation layer of the photoreceptor by irradiating the original image simultaneously with charging by a DC corona discharger 3 impressed with -7.5kV. Next, according to the brightness and darkness of the original image, a difference in surface potential is produced by a full surface exposure lamp 4, so that the electrostatic latent image of high contrast is formed. Thence, it is corona-transferred onto transfer paper by a corona discharger 7. The discharge conditions of the corona discharger 3 for charging are changed over between the time when the image region of the photoreceptor passes and the time when the nonimage region passes, whereby the need for any destaticizing light source is eliminated and the apparatus is made simple.
