At recording/playback, the head base 11 approaches the compact cassette 14, the magnetic head 12 is introduced in the cassette through the opening 16c at the center and is in contact with the magnetic tape 15, two absorbing tape guides 13 are respectively introduced in the cassette through the openings 16b, 16d at the both sides of the opening 16c and are in contact with the magnetic tape 15 to absorb it.
