Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance separation accuracy by opposedly disposing interference filters in such a manner as to prevent undesired total reflection. CONSTITUTION:Two light polarization filters 1A, 1B used as an interference filter are opposed so as to interpose a material (glass) 5 of a refractive index lower than that of a material of a low refractive index constituting light polarization filters and the back surfaces of these filters 1A, 1B are constituted of materials (glass of a suitable refractive index) 6A, 6B of a suitably high refractive index preventing undesired total reflection, whereby a multiple light interferance polarizer is made. Incident light 7 is entered to this at a suitable angle, and is separated to P wave components (10-1-10-6) and S wave components (8-1-8-5) by multireflection interference polarization, whereby the S wave component output light 9 hardly containing the P wave components is obtained.
