Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a waste of electric power consumption and improve fuel consumption performance, by deciding the exhaust steam temperature on a basis of a signal indicating operation status related to the exhaust steam temperature and controlling the heater current of an exhaust gas sensor minutely in accordance with this temperature. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust steam temperature is decided by control circuit on a basis of signals indicating operation status 23 such as the signal corresponding to the rotation speed of the engine, the fuel injection pulse, and the signal corresponding to the sucked-in air quantity or the suction negative pressure. At the idling time just after the start, if a low exhaust steam temperature is decided, movable piece 27 of variable resistor 26 is controlled by step motor 27 and is brought into contact with point A, and a maximum current is flowed to heater 20 of sensor 19. Next, when the exhaust steam temperature rises up to a certain degree after warming, step motor 25 is controlled to set movable piece 27 between points A and B. Further, if the exhaust steam tmperature enters into the high-load region and if it is judged that the exhaust steam temperature will exceed approximately 600 deg.C, movable piece 27 is set between points B and C to make the current of heater 20 zero.
