Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a commutation failure element of a power inverter in the current type inverter by a method wherein the power rectifier side of the current type inverter is pulse-shifted forcibly and breaking of a DC intermediate current is performed accurately. CONSTITUTION:The commutation failure detector circuit 42 inputting an input current Iin to the power rectifier 12 and an output voltage Vout from the power inverter 14 respectively is provided. This circuit is constituted of comparators 44, 46 to input the input current Iin and the output voltage Vout respectively, a logic circuit 48 to discriminate the outputting state of those comparators and a timer 50 to send out a signal to pulse-shift forcibly the power rectifier after the prescribed time in accordance with the state of the logic circuit 48. The pulse-shift signal obtained from this detector circuit is sent out to a phase regulator 40, and the power rectifier 12 is pulse-shifted forcibly thereby to the prescribed minimum control angle of lead of the power inverter operating region to break the DC intermittent current.
