Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten the time of inspection and to remove bad fibers and also, to avoid the assembling of inferior goods, by giving a constant tension during transportation and detecting flaws, breakage or disconnection of wire immediately after that. CONSTITUTION:Starting end of the optical fiber 5 is received light from the light source 8 always by the rotation of the reel 1 while turning in the through-tube 7 of the light coupling apparatus 4 on its own axis and received light is propagated in the fiber 5. The fiber 5 drawn out of the reel 1 is entered to the screening mechanism 12 consisting of two reels 13, 13' and a constant tension is given and then, the test on the strength of the fiber is conducted. The fiber 5 drawn out of the mechanism 12 passes through the light detector 14 and is bound around the reel 16. The light from the light source 8 is caught by the light detector 14 because said light is propagated in the fiber 5 during transportation of the fiber 5 and flaws or breakage and flaws or breakage generated in the range of prescribed allowance by screening, are reflected the light and then, said light appears as a leakage of light toward outside.
