Abstract

PURPOSE: To apply polyurethane foam coating without limitation of the foam density, by dispersing inert gas in a polyurethane mixture with mechanical agitation to form a stable foam, covering the object with the foam, and curing the foam with heat.
CONSTITUTION: A stable foam is prepared by dispersing inert gas uniformly in a mixture composed of (A) a compound having two or more active hydrogen atoms (e.g. polyethylene glycol) (B) an organic polyisocyanate compound such as 2,4- tolylene diisocyanate, (C) a catalyst such as nickel acetylacetonate, and if necessary, (D) an additive such as calcium carbonate, with mechanical agitation. The object to be coated is covered with the foam thus prepared, and the foam is cured by heating.
