Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a small-diameter blank material for forging of a required size of good surface smoothness with good efficiency by drawing or rolling a small- diameter cast bar of Al and Al alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A small-diameter cast bar of Al and Al alloy is produced by continuous casting or semiontinuous casting according to a conventional method. The small-diameter cast bar of a circular or square shape obtained in this way is drawn at a slight reduction ratio by using a stretch drawing machine of ordinary type, whereby it is formed to a predetermined size. Or slight rolling is added thereto by using an ordinary roll leveling machine, a reeler or the like, whereby it is formed to a predetermined size.
