Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the shape of flange of the rolled mterial in order to obtain the flange in breadth reformable into an optimum shape, by detecting the flange breadth on the feed-in side and the run-out side of the rolling stand, and by moving the center of vertical roll, at carrying out the universal rolling work for an H-beam. CONSTITUTION:An edging roll 13 is arranged on the run-out side of the rolling stand comprising the horizontal roll 11 and the vertical roll 12, to form the H- beam 1. The detectors 14, for detecting the flange breadth W1 before the rolling work, are installed on the feed-in side and the run-out side of the said rolling stand; these detectors 14 are connected to the storing-and-arithmetic device 15. The rate of spread beta of the flange is obtained by the equation I from the flange breadth W1 before the rolling work and the aimed flange breadth W2. The device 15 stores the constants A1, A2 for specifying the relation between the extent of the movement Y of the center of the vertical roll 12 and said rate of spread beta of the flange, and the aimed flange breadth W2; the device 15 operates the required extent of the movement Y of the vertical roll 12 from the input signal W1 sent from the detector 14 according to the equation II; this extent Y is transmitted to the forward-and-backward sliding device 16 which then moves the vertical roll 12 forwardly or backwardly as far as the required extent Y.
