Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A dicyclohexylamine salt of a compound expressed by formula I [R1 is trityloxymethyl, 3-trityloxy-trans-1-propenyl or group of formula II (R2, R3 and R4 are H or methyl)].
EXAMPLE: Dicyclohexylamine salt of 2-β-trityloxymethyl-3α-hydroxy-7E-(4'-carboxybutylidene)-bicyclo[3.3.0]octane.
USE: An intermediate for obtaining the compound of formula I exhibiting improved crystallinity.
PROCESS: A compound of formula I alone or further containing the corresponding 7Z-isomer is mixed with dicyclohexylamine in a molar amount of 0.7W1.2 times that of the compound of formula I in a solvent, e.g. acetone or methyl ethyl ketone, and if necessary cooled to filter off the deposited crystals of the aimed compound. The recrystallization further improves the purity of the compound.
