Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a photographic surface from damaging by detecting and comparing the peak value of a picture signal with a prescribed reference level and by reducing the aperture of a lens when the peak value exceeds the reference level.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st reference level VA1 is outptted from reference level generating circuit 12 as reference level (i) for lens aperture adjustement and diaphragm 2 is settled properly. If an extremely sharp and bright light spot, such as a bright spot, appears in the photographic screen and the peack of output (c) of preamplifying circuit 6 exceeds upper-limit reference level Vr1, output (d) of peak detecting circuit 13 and output (e) of sample holding circuit 15 exceed reference level Vr1 and output (f) of the 1st comparing circuit 16 is inverted from HWL. Consequently, FF18 is set to change-over reference level (i) into the 2nd reference level VA2 lower than level VA1, and diaphragm controlling circuit 10 decreases the aperture diameter of aperture 2. Thus, the damage of photographic screen depending upon the peak of the picture signal can be prevented.
