Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow efficient works, such as rubble-mound evening, on the sea bottom by using an apparatus comprising a framework consisting of four supporting poles each having a stretchable leg, and a submarine work station and manipulator arms both arranged so as to be able to move in a longitudinal as well as a lateral directions and also rotate.
CONSTITUTION: A framework 5 consists of four supporting poles 3 having stretchable legs 2 and horizontal beams 4 and 4a. A mobile beam 7 is movable in a longitudinal direction on the framework 5. A submarine work station 9 and manipulator arm supporting members 14 are mounted rotatably and so as to be able to move laterally along the mobile beam 7. An arm 10 which can be raised or lowered and can perform gripping operation is attached to the arm supporting member 14. The underwater work apparatus thus constituted is lowered on the sea bottom from a mothor ship with a suspending cable 12 and a connecting cable 13 and operated by an operator situated in the submarine work station 9 to perform underwater works, such as rubble-mound evening.
