Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a battery which is capable of the long period discharge with a small current and is easy to manufacture by using lithium as a negative active material and a mixture of 1,2-bis(4-pryizyl)ethylene and iodine as a positive active material. CONSTITUTION:The negative electrode 1 is lithium, solid electrolyte 2 is lithium iodide formed through a chemical reaction of the positive electrode with the negative electrode (lithium), the positive electrode 3 is a mixture of iodine and 1,2-bis(4- pyrizyl)ethylene, and packing 4 is polypropylene. The positive electrode comprising a mixture of iodine and 1,2-bis(4-phrizyl)ethylene is readily usable only by mixing powders and thus the work is very simple.
