Abstract
PURPOSE: A chlorine-containing resin that includes thiouracil as well as existing stabilizers, thus having improved discoloration when heated, weathering resistance and initial color tone.
CONSTITUTION: Together with existing stabilizers such as metal soap, phenolic antioxidant, phosphite esters or epoxy compounds, 0.001W10, preferably 0.01W 5pts.wt. of thiouracil of the formula (R1WR4 are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, phenyl wherein one or both of R1 and R2 are H; X1 and X2 are S, O where at least one is always S) such as 4-methyl-2-thiouracil are added to 100 parts of chlorine- containing resin.
EFFECT: The resulting composition gives the same grade of good initial color tone as that of a resin containing cadmium salt as a stabilizer.
