Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the falling of a discharge lamp and to easily attach a steady rest to the lamp, by fixing the steady rest to the lamp in such a manner to desirably adjust the steady rest vertically and horizontally. CONSTITUTION:The discharge lamp 2 is hung from a terminal box 12 into stock water 11. The tip end 2a of the discharge lamp is reduced in diameter. The base of the discharge lamp is provided with an adaptor 13. The tip end 2a is provided with the steady rest 4. The steady rest 4 has a big throughout opening 15. By tightening bolts 18a, 18b, the position where the steady rest is pressed onto the tip end 2a is adjusted, and the steady rest is fixed onto the tip end 2a. Consequently, the position of the steady rest is easily adjusted to insert the tip end of the discharge lamp into the steady rest, even in case where the tip end is at a wrong position.
