Abstract
PURPOSE:To monotonously vary the detection characteristics of a magnetoelectric transducer over a wide range by employing a magnetic sensor which applies a bias magnetic field in the 45 deg. direction with respect to the bias current and a signalling magnetic field generator of given shape. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic sensor 1 is formed by a ferromagnetic metal resistance element MR1 of ferromagnetic metal thin film and which is provided with current path portions IC1 and IC2 each inclined at 45 deg. with respect to the edge portion (e) of an element board EB and a biasing magnetic field generator MGB1 which applies a bias magnetic field in the 45 deg. direction with respect to the bias currents of each of the path portions IC1 and IC2. Accordingly, the sensor MS1 performs stable magnetoelectric conversion without hysteresis and independently of the temperature change. On the other hand, a signalling magnetic field generator MGS1 is formed by a plurality of magnets Mga1..., and the width W1 of its center magentic field region is narrower than the width W2 of each of both its end magnetic field regions. Accordingly, the magnetoelectric conversion value by the sensor MS1 monotonously varies over a wide range in the positive direction or the like. Owing to said magnetoelectric conversion characteristics, an optimum magnetoelectric transducer is obtained for an analog servo, displacement transducer or the like.
