Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the workability with simultaneous withdrawal of an existing pipe and laying of a new pipe by mounting a pipe coupling at the end of the existing pipe buried while a new pipe is connected thereto and pulling the coupling with a wire or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A wire 6 is passed through the existing pipe 4 buried in a natural ground between vertical shafts 1 and 2 such as manhole and a pipe coupling 6 is connected to the end of the wire 5 in the vertical shaft 2 on the drawing side. The front of the pipe 6 is mounted to the end of the existing pipe 4 by screw connection while a new pipe 9a is mounted to the rear of the pipe coupling 6. The other end of the wire 5 is connected to a wire pulling device 7 provided in the vertical shaft 1. A filler 8 such as mortar and sand fills the existing pipe 4 to prevent buckling thereof when it is taken out. Thereafter, the wire 5 is pulled with the device 7 to take out the existing pipe 4 simultaneously with drawing a new pipe 9a. The pipe 4 is cut off and the pipe 9b is connected to renew the buried pipe.
