Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the effect of heat transfer as well as make the flow of gas uniform for making the distribution of temperature uniform by forming the shape of packed layer into a double cylinder and also providing partition plates at given intervals in the internal longitudinal direction of the double cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst is filled in an annular portion 17 between inner and outer cylinders 13 and 14 attached to upper and lower flanges 12A and 12B, and then gas is passed through the catalyst from above to below to cause reactions to take place. Plural partition plates 15 are welded to the inner surface of the outer cylinder 14 circumferentially at equal intervals in the longitudinal and radial directions. Heat required for reactions is supplied through the outer cylinder and the partition plates from outside by a heating source 16, e.g., electric heater, induction heating device, etc. Thus, the heating of reaction layer can be more uniformly than the conventional methods by using the reactor of an annular form and the partition plates 15 provided in the longitudinal and radial directions of the reactor.
