Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the coagulation of an adhesive mist, e.g. tar, and cool a gas while carrying out the effective recovery of heat, by keeping the surfaces of heat transfer tubes in coolers at a pour point at which the mist component will not coagulate or above.
CONSTITUTION: A gas 1 containing dust and an adhesive mist at a temperature of 400W500°C is introduced into gas coolers 3 and passed through vertical heat transfer tube 4, and then steam 9 is recovered with water 8 supplied to a steam drum 7. The temperature of the gas (at the outlets of the heat transfer tubes 4) is kept at 250°C after the cooling and maintained at a uniform temperature without reducing the internal temperature of the tubes 4 to 200°C or below. The recovered tar at 150°C is injected from nozzles 11 into scrubbers 10 to cool and recover the tar mist. The tar and the gas are separated in a separator 14, and the purified gas is taken out of a conduit 15 to collect the recovered tar from a piping 16 into a pot 17. The collected tar is then cooled by a low-pressure boiler 22 and distributed to the scrubber nozzles 11.
