Abstract

PURPOSE: At the beginning of the cooling process, mist of water is sprayed to cool high-temperature steamed tea leaves and increase water on the surface of leaves, then the water is vaporized with a warm or hot air, thus cooling the surface and inner part of the leaves rapidly.
CONSTITUTION: Raw tea leaves are steamed in the steaming drum 6 with a steam at about 100°C for 30sec or so. The tea leaves are heated up to some 85°C and excluded on the start end of the net conveyor 1 in the cooler. At this time, an adequate amount of mist is sprayed from nozzle 7 to cool the leaf surfaces rapidly. These tea leaves are immediately conveyed by conveyor 1 into the warm air hood 8 where warm air is fed and the tea leaves are separated, turned up and down and mixed with stirrer 11. After cooled by evaporation, the tea leaves are sent into the cool air hood 12 and cooled with cool air down to some 20°C.
