Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an illumination apparatus higher in efficiency of use for light of light source and low in power consumption, by composing reflective mirrors for leading light from the light source with a combination of reflective mirrors having elliptical reflective faces and a reflective mirror having a plane reflective face. CONSTITUTION:An optical system consists of first reflective mirror 11 having elliptical reflective face 11a, and second reflective mirror 12 having elliptical reflective face 12a arranged such as surrounding the forward half of light source 1 in the moving direction of source 1 in scanning, third reflective mirror 13 having elliptical reflective face 13a for reflective the light of source 1 reflected with face 11a and condensing it toward original face 5, and fourth reflective mirror 14 for reflecting and condensing the light of source 1 reflected with face 12a. Fourth mirror 14 is of a plane mirror. Since mirrors 11, 12 surrounding one half of source 1 are elliptical, they especially raise light condensation efficiency and save power consumption.
