Abstract

CONSTITUTION:A sensor 1 consists of the combination of a resistor 3 and a resistor 3' or the resistor 3 and a conductor 4 which are mutually isolated by an isolating material 2 consisting of such a material of which the electrical insultion is maintained in a dry state and the electrical resistance is broken by the infiltration of leaking liquid. The sensor 1 is disposed in close contact with or in proximity to the outer side of a liquid passing piping or storage tank and the like 5. Required voltage is applied to the sensor 1 and the electrical resistance thereof is measured, whereby the distance from the measuring point up to a leaking part is detected.
