Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the gas leakage at a slide contact parts between a pallet and a wind box of a Dwight-Lloyd sintering machine by a method wherein detection ends consisting of hollow tubes are provided at the slide contact parts and ultrasonic waves obtained through the detection ends are detected.
CONSTITUTION: The detection ends 6 consisting of the hollow tubes are provided at the slide contact parts 3 between the pallet 1 and the wind box 2 of the Dwight- Lloyed sintering machine and the ultrasonic waves obtained through the detection ends 6 are detected by ultrasonic-wave detectors 5, thereby detecting the gas leakage occurring at the parts 3. The detection signal is fed to a monitor 8, which makes an alarm when ultrasonic waves higher than a predetermined reference are detected. Or, the position of the pallet at which the gas is leaking is monitored through ultrasonic waves, and the pallet is exchanged as required to prevent gas leakage.
