Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove the scale of stainless steels at a low temperature for a short time by a method wherein the titled additive is used which contains a compound, whose molecule has a nitrogen atom. CONSTITUTION:The scale is removed in such a manner that the stainless steels are treated at 80 deg.C or less in an acid bath containing 0.5-3wt% an additive containing a compound, whose molecule has a nitrogen atom, selected from nitromethane, nitrophenol, nitrobenzene sulfonic acid, nitronaphtaline sulfonic acid, nitric acid, nitrous acid, etc. and 5-20wt% sulfuric acid. The stainless steel of not less than 12% chrome content, a special steel of not less than 30% nickel content and special steel containng an element selected from molybdenum, copper, titanium and niobium are used as the stainless steels applicable at that time.
