Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture titled slag having a small number of pores and forming no yellow water, by feeding molten slag to the plural cooling members of rectangular, specified structure which constitutes an endless conveyor in nonoxidizing atmosphere and quenching the slag therein. CONSTITUTION:Molten blast furnace slag 11 is poured into plural cooling grooves of cooling member 2 in an inert or reducing atmosphere contained in a hood 16. The slag 11 is quenched and solidified on the cooling surface and formed into crystalline blast furnace slag 20 before it falls onto a discharging belt conveyor 19. When the member 2 filled with slag 11 arrives at the returning position in the underside of the endless belt conveyor 1, a push plate of the member 2 is pushed into a cooling groove by a rapping device 18, so that the slag 20 is pushed out. Metallic member is constantly cooled with cooling water flowing through cooling caves. When the emptied member 2 arrives at the upper side of the belt 1, the push plate is drawn out by a returning device 27 to the undermost position, then slag 11 is poured once again into the groove of the member 2, hereby slag 20 is manufactured continuously.
