Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture sintered parts having excellent corrosion resinstance and mirror polish property, by sintering austenite stainless steel powder to relatively low density after it is compression formed, then by compressing it successively once again at a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: Austenite stainless steel powder ≤60 meshes is cold compression formed, then it is sintered in the range of 1,000W1,300°C temp. to form blank of relatively low density of 6.5W7.2g/cm3. Said blank is successively compressed once again in a mold for the secondary formation at ≤600°C temp. and at 2W30% upsetting ratio, or volume reduction ratio, so as to increase the density at the surface in contact with the mold, hence excellent mirror polish property and corrosion resistance of the surface is obtained by pore sealing and work hardening. The sintered parts produced by this method is suitable for the exterior parts of timepieces.
