Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the preliminary exciting current with a small capacity switch by conducting a triac connected to the primary winding of a transformer and applying the preliminary exciting current to a field winding connected to the secondary winding of the transformer through a rectifying circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the transformer 1 is connected to a power source, a switch 4 is closed in this state and a current flows through the gate of the triac 2, the triac 2 is conducted, and the primary winding 1a is energized by the current from the power source. Thus, the output generated at the secondary winding 1b is rectified by the rectifier 5 and the rectified current is applied as predetermined preliminary exciting current through a current limiting resistor 8 to the field winding 7. When the switch 4 is opened, the gate current of the triac 2 is interrupted, the triac 2 recovers the interrupted state when the AC inverts to thus stop the application of the current to the primary winding 1a of the transformer 1, thereby stopping the supply of the current to the field winding 7.
