Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate dusts treatment for general home, and recover the final product as effective fertilizer etc. by mixing the ash formed by incineration of dust and water to prepare an aqueous soln. of potassium carbonate, and neutralizing this with gaseous hydrochloric acid.
CONSTITUTION: The dusts such as plastics contained in general household refuse are incinerated to form the ash contg. a large amount of potassium carbonate. This ash is charged into hot water or boiling water to allow the potassium carbonate in the ash to desolve out. This potassium carbonate soln. is treated with gaseous hydrochloric acid and further potassium hydroxide is added thereto to neutralize the soln., whereby potassium chloride is formed. The product obtained finally by this is potassium chloride, which may be recovered as a valuable resource, and has wide applications such as fertilizer and many others. Also, this enables the costs for treatment to be lowered.
