Abstract
PURPOSE: To unnecessitate provision of other pipes liable to cause contamination of products by connecting a plurality of adsorption chambers formed by desorption bands, concentration bands and adsorption bands by one connecting pipe, and passing respective connecting pipes through respective rotary valves.
CONSTITUTION: Adsorption chambers 1 through 8 filled with adsorbents are connected continuously by connecting pipes passing through a rotary valve 9. Pipes 10 and 12 for supplying desorbents fluid mixtures within the valve 9 and pipes 11 and 13 for extracting extracts and raffinates are brought into contact with the connecting pipes of specific adsorption chambers to form flow passages. When the valve 9 is rotated at every specific time along the adsorption chamber, desorption bands, concentration bands and adsorption bands successively more, and the fluid mixture is separated continuously. This device is adapted for use in the separation of paraxylene from a C8 aromatic isomer mixture.
