Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a practical sideslip tester of small size, light weight and low cost, by slidably supporting a slip plate on a base plate so that the slip plate can swing centering one end and by measuring the swing of the slip plate.
CONSTITUTION: Sideslip testers for right and left wheels are placed in parallel with each other on a road so that the distance between the testers is equal to that between the right and left wheels of an automobile. The automobile is then moved from dummy plates 5 so that the centers of the treads of the front wheels are located on shafts 2. At that time, values indicated by dial gauges 8 are read. The wheels are then moved onto other dummy plates 6. At that time, slip plates swing inward or outward from the automobile centering the shafts 2 with regard to base plates 1 depending on the quantities of sideslip. The quantities (a), (b) of sideslip are read by the dial gauges 8. The practical sideslip testers of small size, light weight and low cost are thus obtained.
