Abstract
PURPOSE: An unsaturated polyester resin composition having improved crack resistance, consisting of a specific unsaturated polyester, a polymerizable vinyl monomer with a polymerization catalyst, maleic anhydride, and an epoxy resin using an imidazole as a curing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 parts by wt. of an unsaturated polyester resin consisting of a) 70W30 wt.% of an unsaturated polyester which is modified by 0.5W24 wt.% of a high molecular weight saturated polyester resin introduced at the initial stage of the reaction and b) 30W70 wt.% of a polymerizable vinyl monomer, e.g., styrene, vinyltoluene, wherein a polymerization catalyst, e.g., an organic peroxide, a nitrile compound is dissolved, is blended with B) 0.1W2.2 parts by wt. of maleic anhydride, and C) 5W85 parts by wt. of an epoxy resin using an imidazole, e.g., 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole, as a curing agent.
