Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a novel fluorescent display tube capable of displaying in brilliant red color, having a fluorescent layer composed of a fluorescent material obtained by mixing a low-resistant zinc-oxide-based-composition and a silver-activated fluorescent material.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent material obtained by mixing (A) 1pt.wt. of a silver- activated fluorescent material of the formula Zn1-xCdxS:Ag (0.6≤x≤0.9) activated with 10-5W5×10-2g per 1g of Zn1-xCdxS of silver, and (B) 14-1/14 parts of a low-resistant, zinc oxide-based composition, is deposited on the anode of an vacuum tube. The fluorescent layer is excited by electron beams from an opposite filament. The component (A) can be prepared by (1) mixing x mole of ZnS powder with (1-x) mole of CdS powder, (2) dipping the mixture in an aqueous solution of a silver compound, (3) evaporating the solution to dryness, and (4) calcining at 900W1200°C in a reducing atmosphere. The component (B) contains pref. B, Al, In, etc.
