Abstract
PURPOSE:To perfectly remove carbonaceous deposits from the core wire surfaces by heating the stainless steel welding core wire which has been deposited with carbonaceous material in drawing process, in H2 gas flow. CONSTITUTION:The foregoing stainless steel welding core wire of extra low carbon and nitrogen such as the one whose C+N contents in particular are finally 100ppm or less is heat-treated at temperatures of 800-1300 deg.C in H2 gas flow. The H2 gas of this case is desirably the one of dew point -40 deg.C or less. By this heat treatment, the carbonaceous material having been deposited on the foregoing core wire surfaces may be perfectly cracked and removed. The C and N contained in the steel of the core wire may be removed as well by this heat treatment.
