Abstract

PURPOSE: To collect waste heat from engine or the like, solar energy and so forth and to make an efficient use of the same as an energy for producing a power, by providing a method and apparatus in which liquefied high-pressure gas is evaporated by the waste heat or the like and the vapor is made to expand adiabatically to produce power.
CONSTITUTION: Warm water of 60W80°C discharged from an internal combustion engine is introduced into a heat exchanger 2 through which the exhaust gas flows, so that the water is further heated up to 90W100°C. The hot water is circulated through a heat exchanger 3 of an air conditioning system which is used only in winter season. The water is then introduced to a heat exchanger 4 through which a high-pressure gas is circulated and is then returned to the engine 1, after cooling down to 10W20°C in the heat exchanger 4, by means of a pump 5. On the other hand, the high-pressure gas heated in the heat exchanger 4 is adiabatically expanded through an expander 6 to produce a power and the gas itself is cooled down to 5W15°C as a result of the expansion. This gas is cooled and liquefied in a heat radiator 7 and is compressed by a compressor 8 to a pressure of, for example, 6W 8kg/cm2, before it is recirculated to the heat exchanger 4.
