Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify circuit constitution by converting a base-band signal into a rectangular wave and then by regenerating a timing signal needed for decoding from the obtained rectangular wave. CONSTITUTION:A received base-band signal supplied to input terminal 2 is supplied direct to receiving decoding circuit 15 immediately and also to timing regenerating circuit 20. Circuit 20 is equipped with amplitude comparator 25 which compares the received base-band signal with threshold level VTH with a prescribed level and converts it into a rectangular wave and BPF26 which extracts from this rectangular wave a timing signal needed for decoding. This timing signal is supplied to circuit 15 via PLL circuit 21 to regenerate a data code from the bass-band signal. Here, threshold level VTH is set to any other level than the intermediate value of an eye pattern drawn by the base-band signal, namely, the level of the timing signal is set high, so that the timing signal can easily be regenerated.
