Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst capable of perfectly burning hydrocarbon without emitting an offensive odor by coating the surface of a corrugated, porous, fabric, flexible and heat resistant inorg. material with a heat resistant inorg. substance; solidifying the substance; and supporting a catalytic substance.
CONSTITUTION: SiO2-base glass fiber sheet or silica fiber sheet 2 is closely contacted to corrugated wire net 1, dipped in a slurry of a heat resistant inorg. substance dried, and calcined. Net 1 and sheet 2 are then separated, and sheet 2 is dipped in an aq. soln. of a catalytic substance such as Pt, Rh or Pd to support the substance, dried, and calcined to give a catalyst.
