Abstract

PURPOSE:TO enhance vapor-liquid contact efficiency by using porous materials having a given mean pore diameter as packing to make the geometrical surface are of the packing approximately equal to wetted surface area thereof to extend residence time. CONSTITUTION:A packed tower for use in gas adsorption, rectification, etc. is packed with porous materials having successive pores of mean pore diameter of 80-300 mum, as packing, in order to make the glometrical surface area of the packing approximately equal to the wetted surface area thereof, whereby vapor-liquid contact efficiency can be enhanced.
