Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium featuring the narrow magnetism keeping power distribution width and small aging of the characteristics by coating the specific ferromagnetic metal powder with the silicone oil film formed on its surface onto the substrate via the bonding agent of the polyurethane resin.
CONSTITUTION: The iron oxide powder (such as the α-Fe2O3 powder obtained by heating and dehydrating the α-oxy-iron hydroxide obtained from alkaline solution) is soaked into the silicone oil and then receives the heat reduction to obtain the ferromagnetic metal powder. This magnetic powder is then soaked into the silicone oil solution and then dried at about 200W300°C to form the silicone oil film on the surface of the magnetic powder to be then coated onto the substrate along with the polyurethane resin.
