Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove eliminate the miserasion of the information by giving a smaller distance shift than the track width to the magnetic head in the vertical direction to the running direction of the magnetic medium. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic head 37 is attached to carriage 38 in a body and then shifted by rotation of pulse motor 45 and vertically to the running direction of the recording medium. Pitch P of the track features 1mm along with track width W1 of 0.6mm, and head 37 advances by 0.25mm with step of the motor. Now in case 2nd track 51 is erased, head 37 is shifted as shown at region B to form track 53. Track 53 is closer to 1st track 50 by 0.25mm than the normal position. At this position, the eriasion is carried out with a turn of recording medium 22. In the same way, head 37 is shifted to form track 54 to carry out the erasion.
