Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce cavitation noise and prevent cavitation-erosion by the structure wherein an air ejection hole is provided in the neighborhood of the front edge of a propeller and also in the neighborhood of the place where the cavities collapse, and air bubbles are ejected from these holes.
CONSTITUTION: When air bubbles drawn from air intake 1a of propeller vane 6 are ejected from air ejection holes 7a and 7b provided on forward-moving surface 6a and backward-moving surface 6b in the neighborhood of front edge 6c of propeller vane 6, films 8a and 8b of air bubbles cover propeller 6 and shut off noise from outside. Further, air bubbles are ejected from air ejection holes 7c and 7d, which are provided respectively in the neighborhood of back edge 6d of backward-moving surface 6b and front edge 6c of forward-moving surface 6a of propeller vane 6 in the neighborhood of places 10a and 10b where cavities 9a and 9b produced by flow of water b collapse. Since air bubbles keep cavities-collapsing places 10a and 10b away from the propeller vane surface as far as possible, the shock pressure produced at the time of collapse of cavities is alleviated so that cavitation-erosion is prevented.
