Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a coupling with simplified mechanism, which assures an instantaneous follwing to any possible change in the clearance between the drive and driven shafts.
CONSTITUTION: At both ends of a connecting shaft 1, a crown part 2 of pyramid form is formed to be fitted to the inner wall 14 of the housing 11, which is to be coupled with a rotary shaft 12. The connection shaft 1 is composed of a square pillar 5 and an outer shaft 8 and able to shrink against the spring force 9. An oil in pregnated metal layer 16 is formed in the housing 11. The square pillar part 17 of the rotary shaft 12 is fitted in the pyramid-shaped hole 13 provided in the housing 11, and intermittent movement in the relative rotation between the two rotary shafts 12 can be eliminated by turning these two crown parts 2 for an arbitrary angle of θ and by arranging them unsymmetrically.
