Abstract

PURPOSE: To coat a necessary thickness of photosensitive liquid on a desired surface of steel plate by the procedure in which a long thin steel plate for the shadow mask of color picture tube is passed through a photosensitive liquid and then pulled up through rollers set in the photosensitive liquid and grooved rollers set outside of the photosensitive liquid.
CONSTITUTION: Openings are bored in the shadow masking thin steel plate for color television picture tube by a photoetching method. The thin steel plate 21 is then passed through the photosensitive liquid 23 and then pulled up through the roller 24 vertically, where the thin steel plate 21 is pulled up through a set of the rollers 261 and 262 provided in the photosensitive liquid 23 to remove completely the photosensitive liquid adhered to the surface of the steel plate 21 and then to coat a uniform thickness of the photosensitive liquid on the thin steel plate 21 coming out of the rollers 261 and 262 while passing through the liquid surface 29. Then, the thin steel plate 21 is pulled up through the grooved rollers 27 and 28 provided controllably from the liquid surface 29 in terms of the distance between the rollers and the liquid surface, whereby permitting the film thickness of the photosensitive liquid adhered to the both sides of the thin steel plate 21 to be regulated freely.
