Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure the sharper rise for the amplitude characteristics by inserting the reflective periodic delay circuits featuring the equal delay characteristics to each other into the two paths branched off by the coupler. CONSTITUTION:The reflective periodic branching filter consists of polarized wave separator 6, coupler 7, circular polarized wave generators 8 and 8', periodic delay circuits 9 and 9' plus metal reflector plates 5 and 5' each. When the electromagmetic wave containing the vertical polarized wave including the signal channels of frequencies f1, f2... is put in through terminal 1, the electromagnetic wave transmitted and converted into the horizontal polarized wave through separator 6 is divided equally into two parts through coupler 7 to be then converted into the circular polarized wave through generators 8 and 8'. The electromagnetic waves branched off to paths 3 and 4 are reflected by plates 5 and 5' after passing through circuits 9 and 9' featuring the same delay characteristics. Thus the phase receives the staircase-type change, and characteristics 10 and 11 of the phase variation at paths 3 and 4 feature an integer-fold phase difference of pi via the five frequencies between resonance points 13. As a result, the band featuring the same or opposite phase is expanded when the electromagnetic waves of paths 3 and 4 are compounded via coupler 7, thus ensuring an extremely sharp rise for the amplitude characteristics.
