Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:O,O-dialkyl-S-(substituted benzyl)thiophosphate derivative of formula I (R is lower alkyl; X is H, Cl).
EXAMPLE: O,O-Dimethyl-S-(3-trifluoromethylbenzyl)thiophosphate.
USE: Fungicide effective to rice blast, and "Bakanae" disease of rice plant. Low phytotoxicity to rice plant, and effective by the water-surface application as well as the leaf and stalk treatment.
PROCESS: The objective compound I is prepared by reacting an O,O-dialkylthio- phosphate alkali salt II (Y is alkali metal, ammonium) with a stoichiometric amount of a substituted benzyl halide III (Z is halogen), in a solvent, at ≤100°C, pref. 20W60°C for 2W5 hours.
