Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the rate of denitration in exhaust gas without particular denitrating agent by gasifying part of fuel such as coal in an insufficient amount of oxygen, washing produced NH3 to remove it, adding the resulting gas to main fuel, and adding combustion exhaust gas, air and washing water containing NH3 to the resulting stream.
CONSTITUTION: Part of fuel such as coal, petroleum is gasified in an insufficient amount of oxygen in a pyrolysis gasifying furnace 4. The produced NH3 is removed by means of a scrubber 5. The resulting gas containing CH compounds is added through a line 1i to main combustion exhaust gas of a boiler 1. a small amount of combustion gas and/or air is supplied through a line 1d to the resulting stream so that the O2 concentration in the stream becomes below 0.5% by volume. Most of HCN, NH3 are converted to N2. A sufficient amount of air is supplied through a line 1e to the resulting stream in order to remove unburned part. The washing containing NH3 is introduced through a line 1f into a temperature zone of about 1000°C in the resulting stream, thereby the reduction of NOX is made possible by NH3- denitration reaction.
